Biography

Martijn Cober started his first disco drive in show when he was 15 years old. Sound Express Leiden did on site parties and events for schools and friends. The first pocket money got spent on turntables, mixer and cheap/big JAMO loudspeakers. In the beginning renting amplifiers and lights but later owning lights, strobes and smoke machines. Martijn started DJ’ing on party’s with vinyl and later with CD’s. The vinyl library concists over more than 2000 records. Martijn also has experience as a Light Jockey and Hosting for Events.

In Gieten he joined a youth foundation called “The House”. The foundation organised local parties and the yearly event Hondsrugpop Festival. Martijn got the first DJ’s to attend at this festival in 2003 after a couple crowded BPM nation in and outdoor parties. In the winter of 1999 he decided to take DJ’ing a bit more serious by working at Dutch après ski Bar "Le Monde" in Les deux alpes, France. In the summer of 2000 he became the Resident DJ for Dutch club B-Lexion in Crete, Greece. Together with DJ Shane he explored the island and played at multiple venues for 6 months. For instance they played at the very popular Starbeach. On Kriti Vibes he met big inspiration Tijs Verwest aka DJ Tiësto for the first time.

Returning in the Netherlands Cober became resident DJ at the biggest club in Groningen called “The Palace”. The club hosted 1500 people multiple days a week. Martijn worked here from 2001 till 2010. In these years he played next to DJ’s like Tiësto, Marco V, Hardwell, Afrojack, Quintino, Erick E, Gregor Salto and The Partysquad to name a few. Overall Cober played at several parties in Italy, France, Spain and Greece. The last two years as Manager at The Palace gave Martijn a lot experience but never much recognition. Therefore he decided to search for a new job in the West of Holland so he could start his dream of becoming an Audio Engineer.

In April 2010 he started working at Discotheque Incasa and returned to Leiden. In October 2011 he started the Electronic Music Production course at SAE Amsterdam evolving in entering the audio engineering diploma stage. Martijn started working as a Studio manager for a company that sells rights free music to hospitality companies in 2012. Martijn made playlists for 8 online radio channels. The music library contained over more than 3000 songs in pop, rock, instrumental, Chinese and ambient music. In August 2014 Martijn started working as Team Manager at the Q-Factory in Amsterdam. The Q-Factory is the biggest music building in Europe and host 30 equipped rehearsal studios with two venues and the Pop department of the Amsterdam Conservatory. The owner of the Q-Factory plays in the Reunion band of Herman Brood’s Wild Romance. Martijn joined them on the European Tour in the late summer of 2014. Head Engineer of the tour was Guus Brodiré who works for Within Temptation and Wende. Cober learned a lot from him.

For his Bachelor Degree Audio Engineering he researched Radio Playlist Algorithms and Formats used by music scheduling software in broadcasting services. In November 2015 he graduated the Bachelor Degree with Honours.
